Happy belated St. Patty's Day!

"Do you like Green Eggs & Ham? I do! I like them, Sam I am!" No ham, but we DID have green eggs & toast to celebrate all that is green on St. Patrick's Day. Of course we read Dr. Suess's "Green Eggs & Ham," & dressed up in green. Here's photos of our little Smith celebration. On a side note, Sophie continues to grow rapidly fast. She grew over an inch & half in 2 months, & keeps going! She also stayed dry all night long 3 days in a row! We're trying to get back to that, but, hey-it happened!

I caught a couple snapshots of our happy baby boy that day, so I had to show that, yes, indeed, he does smile & is that way most all the time. Ryan is also out growing his infant car seat already! Serioulsy, what is in our VA water??! He had a ball sitting up in the shopping cart today. Lauren has been a little nervous about the switch, knowing we'll ahve to carry the little one everywhere, but I guess we're ready!

Growing like weeds!

It's March, we're no longer wearing heavy winter coats, we're sneaking outside for walks & playground trips, we're keeping as busy as ever, and trying hard to not miss all the fun that's happening! Between work, Physicial Therapy appts., & getting back into Krav Maga, Justin's got a full schedule, and with the kids' continuous action & change, Young Women's activities, & trying to keep up her therapy skills with coursework & bits of work here & there, Lauren's always on the go. With so many "high fives" through the door, we certianly cherish our time together as a family, and, thankfully, the laughs continue in the Smith household. I've been reminded to record our precious moments, and they are cetainly precious.

Little miss Sophie is such a sponge with learning & quite the funny little girl. We love to see those wheels turn & hear what comes out of her mouth. She's learning how to put letter sounds together for words, and I'm (Lauren) quite amazed! Little Kitty (Kitt-eh, as she often calls it) still tags around most of the time, but Sophie finally asked for a real kitty. After having a few discussions about why that won't work with Daddy's allergies, Sophie blurts out, "How 'bout we get a NEW (or was it no?) Daddy & get a kitty?!" She later realized that Daddy is irreplaceable, and her dog & pretend kitty will have to do. Although she is definately a 3 1/2 year old with all that entails, she is a our sweet, little girl who truly wants to be good.

We can't believe Ryan is already 5 months old & coming up on his 6 month old Dr. appt! It took some time to realize that Ryan needed to switch to bottle feeding & using a certain kind, but now he is even happier & chunkier. He is quite proficient at rolling now & almost has sitting on his own down. So, we're getting ready to switch carseats. We love to hear him "talking" & laughing, & nothing beats his cheeky, silly smile. I try & try to catch either on camera, but it never works. Which reminds me, this boy is dangerously into everything he can get his fingers on! He still is a people-person, but so very curious aout everything, giving a cute mokey-curious face when examining whatever he's grabbed. This makes cooking tricky, & I suppose I need to prepare myself for all things "boy." Ryan has also learned how to hold a bottle on his own (mostly), & he thinks it's pretty neat. His personality keeps on coming out, & it is such a joy!

Even Charlie has seen some changes. After noticing a sore on his lips, we took him into the vet, only to find he had 2 infections (from his ears), in bad need of vaccine updates, slight overweight problem (all that snow!), & major teeth plaque that were creating bacterial issues. $1000 later (thank heavens for the tax return!) he came out with sparkling white teeth, good ears, & a happier dog all around. Lauren's glad that our couch pillows don't have slobber anymore & her cuddle buddy is back.
I (Lauren) have truly found recently that with all of life's hustle, bustle, ups, & downs, it is so important to remember & cherish the little joys that happen daily, for they can be too easily missed. This week, our goal is to go to sleep earlier! :)
